Boat Smart manual coverThis is a comprehensive course designed to give all boaters, new and experienced, the basic skills needed to boat with confidence. The instructors are members of the Lake Murray Power Squadron who have completed advanced courses in boating subjects and who volunteer their time as a community service.

We recommend that you attend all of the lectures to take full advantage of the course and the experiences our instructors have to provide. However, if you are unable to attend all of the classes or are unable to take the test on the date scheduled, our instructors will work with you to answer any questions you may have about the course material for the classes you miss or to arrange an alternate test date.

If you are unable to attend this Boat Smart course, there will be other opportunities to enroll. Specific dates, times and locations will be listed on this website and on the USPS website at www.usps.org where you can click on "Boating Course Schedule" under General Information.

If your schedule will not allow you to attend the Boat Smart course or if you would prefer to take a self-study course, we recommend "America’s Boating Course." This is a CD ROM course that you take at your own pace. Once you complete the course work, just contact Lake Murray Power Squadron to schedule the exam. For more information, please visit www.usps.org and click on "America’s Boating Course" under General Information.

How to register for "America’s Boating Course":
