Lake Murray Members Enjoy D/26 Cruise & Rendezvous,
Bringing Home the Kayak Race Award
One of the truly fun events during the District 26 Cruise and
Rendezvous, which was hosted in Myrtle Beach 2-4 May 2008, was the kayak Race
that was won by our own P/D/C Archie Trawick and P/C David Price. And, would you
believe, neither one of those guys had ever been in a kayak before!
North Strand Sail and Power Squadron hosted the cruise and
rendezvous, which also included a district council meeting. D/26 Cdr John Powers
was unable to join us for the meeting due to a nasty virus, but his lovely wife,
Alice, was there to welcome a nice size crowd to Barefoot Resorts and the House
of Blues. In addition to members from around the district, we welcomed three
members from District 27 to the weekend events. D/Lt/C Ron Osburn kept the meeting short and everyone had a chance to
enjoy the locale before showing up at the docks for the kayak race.
