New Marine Patrol Task Force Headquarters Opens at Lighthouse
Marina
Richland County Sheriff's Department held a ribbon cutting
ceremony for the new Marine Patrol Task Force Headquarters located at Lighthouse
Marina on 12 April. The Department of Natural Resources has teamed up with RCSD to make Lake Murray a safer place to boat. Along with the announcement came
a special donation from D.A.R.E. The organization presented a 28-foot boat
sporting its logo to patrol Lake Murray. The boat, which is anticipated to
provide quick response to boaters who may be in danger on the lake and need help
in a hurry, also will be used for school visits and community events.

Shown in the photos with Sheriff Leon Lott are members of DNR
and a second grade class from Lake Murray Elementary displaying their PFDs.
Almost the entire facility was built from donations. Lexington-Richland 5
donated the building, Agnew put on the porch, Home Depot donated building
materials and many more donations made it possible in these economics times to
make Lake Murray a safer place to boat. Lake Murray Power Squadron donated
tables for use in the headquarters.
