LMPS Remembers 2025 with Awards
During a Holiday Celebration
Citing a banner year for
accomplishments at the Christmas Party and Awards Dinner on December 6, 2025, Past Commander Mike Charles recognized Lake Murray's many
volunteers who made our squadron great during 2025. In addition to the folks who
consistently showed up to cook, clean, lead a cruise or other event, he
presented awards to those who went above and beyond in their service to the
squadron. There also were a couple of "fun" awards for those days you wish had
not occurred.
The squadron's most prestigious service award ─ the
Golden Anchor Award The squadron's most prestigious service award ─ the
Golden Anchor Award ─ was then presented. This award is presented annually to a
squadron member "for distinguished and unselfish service to the squadron with
outstanding leadership, vision and ability." P/C R.J. announced P/C Debra Allen,

for 2025 was a couple: P/C Charlie Bruce and his wife, Diane. This award is solely determined
by the commander and offers an opportunity to recognize someone who has been an
asset in making Lake Murray a better squadron.
Recognizing a new member of two years or less who
started their squadron career with a real spark, P/C Charles presented Lt Heidi
Williams with the 2025 Spark Plug Award. Then came the Catch the
Spirit Award, which was awarded to Lt Sarah Trawick for her positive spirit,
cooperation and engagement as a roll model for squadron membership.
On a lighter note, was presentation of the
squadron's Rusty Anchor Award, which went to V/C David Allen for his unintended
and spectacular entry into the water on the evening of the Change of Watch in
2024. An event that started the calendar for our 2025 Watch Year awards.
Finally, our most
infamous award, which is given annually to the member who inflicts in a most
spectacular fashion the most damage (or embarrassment) to his or her vessel or the vessel and/or
property of others, went to P/C Tim Barnhill for running aground while cruising
near Georgetown.
